Rice
I came across the Danish brand 'Rice' the other day for the very first time, the bright, vibrant colours and kooky designs got my little heart fluttering.
Designed in Denmark, and then manufactured in places like Thailand, India and Madagascar.
Why Rice designs? They decided to name their brand 'Rice', because of the importance of rice holds in many third world countries. Rice is a way of life for most people - a food staple and it is even used like a currency. For example in Madagascar the average salary package generally contains a sack of rice, it is considered so valuable.
The fun and colourful designs scream Summer to me, but i'm sure they'd brighten up any gloomy cold winters day and they would surely chase those blues away.
Check out their catalogue on their website

Doodles
![]() |
| Hugs keep us alive |
I found these gorgeous little illustrations on Etsy.
They are by a guy named Heng Swee Lim, an illustrator / visual artist based in Kuala Lumpur.![]() |
| Where there's a will, there's a way |
His work is so happy and bright, I absolutely adore all of it!
I simply can't help but smile when I look at his work.

| All you need is Love |
Funnily enough his Etsy shop is called ilovedoodle, he writes on his Etsy profile that he hopes to be able to doodle smiles on people's faces.
(Which I think he is already doing!)

His prints are all cost US$30 on his Etsy shop; ilovedoodle.

Seeing spots
I keep seeing polka dotted things around lately and it got me thinking, why is it that they are specifically called 'polka dots'?
So I did a bit of research and found that the term 'polka dots' came around in the late 19th Century during the period when Polka music was popular, it was also at that time that spots were very fashionable, and naturally all the girls were turning up to go polka dancing in spotty dresses.
The two were linked and the term 'polka dots' was coined.
The term 'polka dots' spread and is still in use to this very day.
I thought that was such a cute little story worth sharing.

Svenska Design

I absolutely adore everything about Swedish home design! I love the simplicity, functionality and style (and all the beautiful white space) of it all.
The other day I came across a Swedish buyer named Tant Johanna who works for Elle Interiors in Sweden, based in Gothenburg.
Now even though her blog is all in Swedish, it didn't stop me from enjoying all the pictures of gorgeous styling, things, places etc... that inspires her.
It was hard picking a few photos from her blog to show here, because they are all so pretty - but here are some of my favourite, favourites! :)
So if you like Swedish design, head on over to her blog and have a look.

Dreaming...
It got me thinking how I can't wait to finish studying and actually start earning for my designs, and where better to do that then in London town.
Found a few jobs that sound pretty peachy to me...
Here's a selection (you'll notice how even the ads are pretty!)
Ahhh but alas i'll keep dreaming for now....
